A Slightly Unreasonable Love Letter to Linen Pants

A Slightly Unreasonable Love Letter to Linen Pants

I have to admit something right up front: I am deeply, unapologetically obsessed with the Casbah pants from Bryn Walker.

Friday we did a live about pairing linen with silk, and it was fun.

Almost too fun. Every time I add a new linen colour to my wardrobe, it’s like my whole closet suddenly expands. The same silks I’ve owned for years feel...interesting again.

Here’s the thing. I don’t actually understand colour theory. I know people do. I am not one of them. What I do understand is knowing when I love a piece of silk. When I love it, I just know. And I’ve learned to trust that. I buy it, wear it with neutrals, and let it live its life in my closet.

Then one day — sometimes years later — the exact right shade shows up in a Bryn Walker linen collection. A purple. Or a teal. Or that sandy, not-beige-but-not-not-beige colour.

And suddenly I can pull one little colour out of that silk, pair it with my pants, echo it in my jewellery, and the whole outfit looks intentional. Almost thoughtful. Like I had the whole thing planned.

I didn’t. Someone else already did the hard work of mixing and matching the colours (Thank you Indian Artisans!). I just follow the clues.

That’s what I love about silk. It quietly tells you what to do if you’re willing to listen. And linen — especially these pants — gives it somewhere comfortable to land.

Because practicality matters too. The Casbahs have a stretchy waist (thank you). They have so many pockets (also thank you). They get softer the longer you wear them.

They’re beautifully made, meant to last, and yes — meant to be resold someday if you decide to let them go.

I’m not going to tell you how many pairs I own. Let’s just say every time I add one, my wardrobe feels like it’s been quietly rearranged by a magician.

And honestly, in a world that feels increasingly unhinged, I’ll take a little bit of magic wherever I can find it.
