THE STORY

"Kuunda" means "to create" in Swahili. We love seeing the creativity of our artisan partners in handcrafting this necklace from recycled broken padlocks. The Together We Can necklace is made from broken padlocks in Kenya’s Kibera slums. Taking something and restoring it to beauty. Giving it purpose.

Likewise we love the analogy to the artisan partners' lives. Born into the poverty cycle, life has been difficult. Broken dreams. But through job creation by making jewelry, they are being restored. Being able to meet their family’s needs. Provide home, food and education. Finding their purpose again.

Broken padlocks made beautiful is great, but artisans lives changed is even more beautiful.
